upgrade, there are a number of things you must do to ensure that everything is right. If you are just going to toss in an ECU, I think I could do it personally in 3 minutes, maybe 2.5. However, there's a lot more to an ECU upgrade than just that. In fact, actually doing screwdriver work is nothing. Once you swap the ECU out, check/adjust base timing, install boost jets, change out to new plugs that you spent a few minutes regapping, checking with a conzult, take the car out for a testdrive to ensure its not overboosting or underboosting, and its about 50/50 that you'll have to screw with the jet size to get the boost just right, and before you know it, you've been fenaggling with the car for two hours, sometimes longer, and if its throwing any codes, add some more time to take care of that.. Problem is, I wouldn't bet that whoever you were quoted from for the work is going to come anywhere close to performing all of these tests, that is, unless its Z1. =)
